So Many Problems

The group set out to look for Julian next with Faelin’s letter of introduction. Julian explained he owes Faelin big. He does oddjobs now but used to be in regional sales for GPS, the Ranging school in Old Weir. He told them the Monarch’s guard is being super aggro right now and best to lay low.

Z, Dalag’se, and Ironica went to meet D-double-E-L-O-N, Deelon, at GPS. Deelon had a crush on Z. Dalag’se sized up the threads on some of the Rangers lounging around. I think some shells or frog legs were exchanged, hard to say. What with the Laudinsfös starting to give him the itch. Deelon recognized someone from Z’s Brotherhood, a woman, and agreed to send along any info and any interesting contracts to Z through Julian.

Meanwhile Safad hid under the table while Slothrop played it cool when a guard showed up asking around for newcomers. Julian said it was just his buddy the ol Drow. Julian agreed to try to send some misinformation if the group ever left town to throw Kearnan off the scent.

The PCs woke up at Julian's and staged an intervention with Dalag'se who was getting the itch. Julian and his wife busied themselves with the dishes. Dalag'se slipped away while the PCs argued about what to do next. Safad noticed his departure and led the group to find D alone, confused, and high? in an alley. The group circled him again while Slothrup filched the Laudinsfös vial and headed toward the street where the town was out in droves to kick off Midwinter celebrations. The first event was the "Wet Parade" where devotees of the cruel goddess of snow and winter, Auril, compete in a race around town in sopping wet garments trying to climb six iced up iron poles and kiss the iron goddess statuette at the top. The locals call it the "Lipless Run" since a lot of the participants end up with their lips sticking to the iron poles and ripping them off in their haste. The locals also love to gather along the route and cheer on the runners. Lots of drinking. Anyway.

All chaos broke loose once Safad tormented Dala'gse with an illusion of the Laudin. They got into a fist fight that featured a lot of slipping in the snow and not much hitting, while Zireael and a neighborhood kid put money on the winner. Nancy played some fight music. Ironica told Dala'gse it was actually Slothrop who had the 'sfös and then everyone took off out of the alley and into the the middle of the Wet Parade. Slothrop handed it off to Safad who mage-handed it dangling in front of Dala'gse's face. Ironica, Nancy, and Slothrop blended into the crowd. Dala'gse finally connected on a punch to Safad, but Ironica raised the alarm that the Monarch's guards were coming. No one else saw the Monarch's men. Zireael and the kid peeled around the corner to keep watching the fight and noticed not Monarch guards but local guards approaching. Z smiled. The kid gave him a felted badger.

Dala'gse hit with another haymaker and Safad was almost KO'd before he threw the 'sfös into a snowdrift nearby. Slothrop talked local guards out of interfering, saying it was a prank on their buddy. He was persuasive and the guards laughed at the enraged island dwarf. Ironica recovered the 'sfös and everyone calmed down once Dala'gse agreed to only taking possession of half of it. D'luk Cassin emerged from the dissipating crowd and gave them a map with Myth Sveldin and Lakeville marked on it. He also told them the general area in the Forgotten Forest where they might find a druid called Bask Briarcloak who might heal D. They went back to Julian's to recover. The group set up a Dala'gse watch and when he went to hit the head they were paranoid. Ironica and Slothrop followed him outside to the two-hole outhouse where he had to squat supervised. It wasn't pretty, but they bonded. Z ditched the toy badger in Julian's kid's room--deadweight.
