Renown

Wherein the notable heroic or villainous deeds that may or may not be attributed to the PCs are recorded...

A group of "travelers" who called themselves Dawson's Five showed up en route to Firsburg with reports of a rag-tag group of half-starved bandits laying waste to the countryside in the Southern Greypeaks. The leader, a holy man named Dawson, claimed he and his companies barely escaped with their lives after intervening to save a group of wandering Priests of Tymora. A tribe of local wood elves selling goods at a nearby trading post tells a different tale, passed along by sylvan whispers in the trees, of a vicious band of highwaymen who were cleared out of a Pixie glen by a shaggy group of barely-clothed and unarmed hippies. For their part, the wandering Mystics of Tymora, when interrupted mid-song, report that Lady Luck shined on them through the violent work of benevolent woodsmen.

Contacts who had plans to visit members of the Misfit Six and Rya Rezna were surprised to find them all missing from Old Weir. Some say a wealthy Daggerford noble named Felix Rains who had a vendetta against the group from many years past finally settled the score, luring them to the countryside only to murder them.

The Misfit Six faded into obscurity as they settled down for a bohemian communal life addicted to the narcotic sfos in Old Weir. They were said to be instrumental in saving the town from a rogue mind flayer and stone giants, but have otherwise hung up their swords and learned skills such as trapping, drums, and painting.

Word is spreading that the Misfit Six and Rya Rezna have returned to Old Weir! They were last seen heading into the Badger Den to rest, while Nancy the Bard took up her violin with a Weir Watchman at Three Copper Annie's and brought the house down. Maria Dalbeck tells about how great a group they are and how they graced her hearth, while Dennel only scowls when she tells the story.
Two recent acts of banditry have terrorized an otherwise peaceful and well-maintained stretch of the Daggerford Road.

The Mootscarp Inn in the High Moor saw more than its usual raucous crowd on Market days, with the chatty pureblood yuan-ti barkeep, DeRees, claiming a group coming from the legendary Myth Sveldin was the center of a lot of action one evening. That same night, a ranger out of Daggerford claims he was assaulted by a man fitting the description of Zireael of the Misfit Six, but few at the Inn believed him after he was implicated in the robbery of the explorer, Blouder Brig. For his part, Brig's credibility was greatly diminished and his reputation sullied after he was found naked and robbed in one of the Inn's brothel rooms.

Adventurers passing through Lakeville have heard of the Misfit Six recently departing for Myth Sveldin with two guides. Some adventurers complain about lack of sleep from a ruckus caused by the Misfit Six in the Myth Sveldin bunkhouse very late in the evening.

A local, traumatized, farmhand called Evan claims the Misfit Six saved him from not one but two carrion crawlers, and gave him some coin for the road. He and some others who claim kindnesses large and small from the Misfit Six are rumored to be peeling off some of the wanted signs when VA guards aren't in sight.

The brothers and sisters at Ebbonstone Abbey report of a valiant band fitting the description of the Misfit Six who set off to save renowned potter Master Shifu. Word is, they saved him from some vile creatures, including a number of undead!

For those who will listen, Kalliar Brood will describe his daring encounter with the dangerous criminals that he has begun calling "The Misfit Six." He claims they were quite lovely and one was a gourmand.

A veteran of the Weir Watch claims his brother was killed in the line of duty and it was only the group of six who saved him from a similar fate.

Sources have implicated the group in the murder of at least 3 Vostewylde Alliance guards, including local captain Kearn'an the Bold, and are being blamed for the unresolved killings of a patrol of 7 guards. Folk in Old Weir are unsettled by their familiar likeness being pasted around Old Weir by the VA guard.

A few of the band were seen back in town, domesticated, or so it seems, integrating into the family of Julian Dunbar, perhaps visiting with him for the Midwinter holidays. They were seen buying Lucille's famous pies for dinner one evening. That was also the night the Daleman Manor burnt down.

The band of six were spotted leaving town through the east gate, in the dark of night, pursuing who-knows-what end.

While most children in Old Weir enjoy badger-themed merchandise around Midwinter, a strange number of shells and froglegs have been showing up around town. Some say they spotted the strange monosyllabic dwarf collected oddities in exchange for these goods.

The Wandering Wolf Inn was said to employ on a temporary basis one of the halflings who brought the house down with her violin.

This year's Midwinter classic running of Auril's Wet Parade brought extra excitement for spectators as the band of six were seen brawling in the middle of the route down by Three Copper Annie's. A few neighborhood kids are said to have made some money betting on the outcome of the dwarf versus the Calimshani. The guard investigated but determined it was just some good holiday fun.
Just southeast of the Gap of Lodun a traveling merchant was killed and his face disfigured. Local authorities have yet to identify the man.

Local rangers from GPS were said to have met a few of the band of six, claiming that the large human belongs to a mysterious sect called The Brotherhood, known to some as contract killers of strange beasts.

Channis Beck, proprietor of the Gilded Lamb, reported the band of six sought lodging at his inn, paid in full, and then disappeared without a word.

The group was spotted coming out of the bathhouse in brand new kit after they had been gone for a few days. Talk around town is that they are using Old Weir as an adventuring base, headed off to the Greycloak hills or somewhere east.

Myrtle Wizzenkoffmoggenockery was seen closing early her popular shop, Myrtle's Wondrous Items, during one of the most successful market days of the year. The "band of six" were the last to be seen entering the premises.

Local farmer, Faelin Devers, has it on good account that six newcomers to the region helped rid him of a nasty menace at his farm that had been preying on his sheep. Turned out to be a carrion crawler, come up from the underdark.

The band of farm justice vigilantes include a strange dwarf, two halfling sisters, a human man from Calimport, a human man of terrifying build, and a handsome dark elf.

Closer to Old Weir, an entire patrol of Innesbyr guards were wiped out and the bodies burned. Seven men, killed. Despite the proximity to a nearby farm, the homesteaders maintain they were unaware of what transpired.

  1. Some children let slip that they took six adventurers to see the underside of the old bridge.
